Enchanting Stained Glass and Kiln Formed Creations by Susan Hamilton

MerFox Art's pieces reflect a passion for capturing the spirit of nature.

Meet the Artist

Glass has a fluidness to it, a feeling and energy that can bring smiles, joy, and comfort, to those watching the way it dances in the light. If you visit my studio, you will see about 10 creations started at once while scattered about the studio is a stash of colors, shapes, and sizes of glass and bobbles, just begging to be put into the next creation. I’m constantly inspired by the spirit that is inherent in every piece of glass and how it can be shaped to exemplify the natural beauty of the world around us.

What They Had To Say..

  • Kathy Childers-Hahn

My husband fell in love with this piece, because it reminded him of fishing on a favorite pond when he was a kid. It became a beautiful Christmas gift for him. Photos can’t even capture the beautiful colors in the glass.

  • Marcia Sztanyo Duncan

Love your imagination and Visions of oceanlife! reminds me of my many trips to Hawaii and the peace and beauty there. your soldering is amazing.

  • Cindy

I’ve learned to appreciate the process and beauty of stained glass. I also learned that this is not the best medium for this lady to play with due to the whole blood thinner thing. Lol! But the best thing was to witness others triumphs and growth through the beautiful pieces created by each and every one of them.

  • Taylor

I have PTSD and doing the stained glass helps calm my head down. The focusing and calm I feel when cutting, soldering or even just foiling helps me get my flashbacks back in control… either gone for a while or back to a manageable level.

  • Carri

I’ve learned, and still am learning patience. I’ve learned to be calm about mistakes (everything is fixable). I’ve learned to stay humble, and keep asking questions. I’ve learned to wear protective gear. And I’ve learned to appreciate a good teacher and creative classmates!

  • Robyn

I’ve learned that I’m always learning. No matter how much I do something, others may have a technique or tweak that makes what I am working on a bit easier or prettier. I love getting ideas from watching others and in studying projects.

  • Karen

Stained glass class is my happy place! I have made so many new friends who also enjoy art! I love all I am learning about creating art with glass, but the group in my class also makes it special. I love how everyone helps each other. Susan is an amazing teacher and no matter what you think the problem is, she can help you fix it. When I am in class creating with glass,I couldn’t be happier!
