Creations that Energize the Soul

Stained Glass Basics Part 2 ~ Tools, Foiling, Soldering, Creating Mixed Media Pieces

This class will offer a precut piece for a small fee or you can use scraps to play around with and learn as I demonstrate the items below. Either way, you'll have fun and add to your stained glass knowledge!

II will be demonstrating tools that you may want to add to your home studio. These will include:

Straight Line Cutters, portable and non portable and why

Circle Cutters, expensive to very inexpensive and why

Mosaic Cutters and how you might use them in Stained Glass

Kilns, how and when you might want to add a kiln to your studio and how you can use fused glass in your stained glass pieces

Decorative Soldering techniques

Mixed Media techniques, adding wire, fused glass pieces, stands, etc.

Bevels, how to add them to a piece or make them the focal point!

If you are new to stained glass, only the morning class will focus on basic cutting skills, this is a class that have learned the basics and want to expand on that knowledge.

I've been creating with this gorgeous medium for about 15 years and wasted a lot of money on the wrong tools, equipment, etc. so I am happy to tell you what works, what to shy away from and, in general, how to add some fun to your pieces with shells, wire, decorative soldering, etc.

Whether you’re new to stained glass or looking to refine your skills, this class provides a solid foundation in a welcoming and creative environment.

This class will be offered in a 3 hour class in the afternoon following the Stained Glass Basics class. Yes, you may sign up for one or both, just know this class will not be going over basic cutting.  Also, if you want to continue working on your piece from the morning class, this would be the place to do it, so yes, you can sign up for both!

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the custom nature of our classes and limited seating available, we do not offer refunds or transfers unless we cancel.

Feel free to bring a drink or snacks enjoy after you create. It will be close to 6, or better known around here as "wine time" and I'm happy to sit with you and just chat about all the adventures you can take in the glass world!

Plan to arrive at least 5-10 minutes early so the class can begin on time.

All tools will be provided in the class. You may wish to upgrade your glass choice and purchase some glass or precuts. Tools will also be for sale ~ I'll be posting tools for sale on my facebook page as well: https://www.facebook.com/MerFoxArtist

Glass has a fluidness to it, a feeling and energy that can bring smiles, joy, and comfort, to those watching the way it dances in the light. If you visit my studio, you will see about 10 creations started at once while scattered about the studio is a stash of colors, shapes, and sizes of glass and bobbles, just begging to be put into the next creation. I’m constantly inspired by the spirit that is inherent in every piece of glass and how it can be shaped to exemplify the natural beauty of the world around us.

I was born and raised in the heart of America in a sleepy little country town called St. Peters, Missouri. My parents firmly believed in family vacations and exploring everything from coastal beaches to rocky mountains, which allowed me to experience many different landscapes and natural settings in my formative years. It was quickly clear that summer vacations at the beach were always my favorite!
