Creativity, Passion, Freedom!

Custom Creation for Deborah Cray Art Studio.

I fell in love with the paintings of my dear friend Deborah Cray and bought the sweetest piece from her. She said that instead of payment, she would love for me to create a piece for her art studio that would set the intention for creativity, passion and freedom to create. As an artist herself, she understood the way I create. I knew she had a love for all animals, raised chickens and appreciates all things nature. Her one request was to add a garnet to the piece. My mind began creating, imagining, wondering what the finished piece would look like.

Shortly after her request, I was sorting through the hundred plus pounds of glass I had collected, searching for the perfect coordinating pieces to begin her piece. As I held the glass up to the light, I could see penquins, baby ducks, a giraffe, and as I turned the glass in different directions, I felt laughter and play. This was the glass I would use, now to let my mind imagine how it would turn into a single piece of art that would provide the vibrational energy she was asking for.

What most people miss is that for every stained glass piece, there are several artists involved. Every color is added by an artist, twisted and twirled by an artist. It takes another artist to add it to their inventory so that it can add up in

the hands of the artist that will be adding it to a specific piece of artwork. The challenge is that, like the piece pictured above, it is no longer in circulation so there’s only one shot at making sure it ends up in the appropriate piece. In this case  I love seeing all the animals in this glass! If I could, I would keep ALL of it, ALL the glass, but sending it off, sometimes around the world and allowing it to brighten others lives, is the most powerful feeling there is!

The piece was coming together, still feeling not quite right, but allowing the flow to happen. Sometimes, I just have to trust that it will come together because seeing the glass on a table is very different from seeing it in the sun.

I added in the lead caming and with a zinc frame, tossed on some feathers and remembered I had some new chicken wire in the barn, yes! That was exactly what it needed!

Here’s another view of the glass. I see a giraffe. What do you see?

This is a piece that really needs light behind it. With the proper lighting, you can easily see a soaring dove!

A duck!

The inspiration for the piece, a single garnet!

A penguin wanted to drop in and say hello!

This is my favorite, a baby chick!

With the fun and playfulness of this piece, it’s no wonder that I am obsessed with glass!

I do love custom orders, but I’m not a pattern type of artist. I search for the meaning you want the piece to have, the energy you want it to provide, whether you want a meditation piece or a high energy piece. We talk about what inspires you. We can add in crystals, feathers, geodes, antique glass, or perhaps something from your childhood, anything that brings a smile to your face, reminds you of a loved one or launches you into action. It’s amazing to add in all the energies and see where it takes me. I loved working with Deborah and was so pleased that this piece has a place of distinction in her art studio!
