Let's Play with GLASS!
An exploration of fusing!
Susan's Home Studio
7319 Magnolia Valley Drive, Eagleville, TN
I get so many requests from people asking how to create fused glass pieces and I rarely have classes to teach this fabulous style of glass play so now's your chance!
You can choose to do a more formal piece like the Kitty in a Fishbowl, or a Lightening Bug Jar, or I'll provide you with a 6"x6" piece of clear fusing glass and you can create your own design!
With the Kitty in a Fishbowl, you'll get a precut piece to build your aquarium on with these adorable little fish I fly in from Croatia!
For the Lightening Bug Jars, I work with an artist in Florida to bring you glow in the dark bobbles for the bodies!
6"x6" building pieces allow you to create whatever calls to you, a flower, a field of poppies, maybe a butterfly ~ patterns and ideas will be presented to get you started.
You'll also each get to make an ornament using Tempered Glass ~ which is so crazy fun!
All materials will be provided along with the opportunity to purchase materials to take home and practice on your own!
Have questions, reach out to me at MerFoxArt@gmail.com ~ I know I had a ton of questions when I first started and still do!
Basic kiln techniques and firing schedules will be discussed.
Basic glass cutting will be discussed and demonstrated for those new to the glass cutting world.
You can sign up for more than one project if you like ~ each piece should take 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on your skill level and the project you decide to tackle. (I'll be adding more pictures)
Please feel free to bring your beverage of choice and snacks!
Pieces will be fired the following week and available for pickup in a few days. I'll be scheduling more classes so you are welcome to pick up your finished piece at the next class or we can arrange a time that works for both of us. I can also arrange shipping.
Note: Due to the small class size and prep work involved weeks ahead of time for each piece, we cannot offer refunds or transfers to another class. We can, however, let you find someone to fill in for you. We will offer a refund if we cancel for any reason.
Glass has a fluidness to it, a feeling and energy that can bring smiles, joy, and comfort, to those watching the way it dances in the light. If you visit my studio, you will see about 10 creations started at once while scattered about the studio is a stash of colors, shapes, and sizes of glass and bobbles, just begging to be put into the next creation. I’m constantly inspired by the spirit that is inherent in every piece of glass and how it can be shaped to exemplify the natural beauty of the world around us.
I was born and raised in the heart of America in a sleepy little country town called St. Peters, Missouri. My parents firmly believed in family vacations and exploring everything from coastal beaches to rocky mountains, which allowed me to experience many different landscapes and natural settings in my formative years. It was quickly clear that summer vacations at the beach were always my favorite!
